Job Description

Physical Therapist Assistant

Make a lasting difference in the lives of young children and their families as a Physical Therapist Assistant with UAMS Kids First. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-based, best-practice physical therapy interventions for children from birth to age 5 who experience a variety of gross motor delays and disorders. You will work closely with children, families, therapists, nurses, social workers, developmental staff, and community partners to support each child's growth, development, and success. This is an opportunity to bring your clinical expertise into a family-centered, developmentally appropriate environment where every therapy session can help a child gain new skills, build confidence, and reach important developmental milestones. Travel to other UAMS Kids First locations may be required. Why Join UAMS Kids First? At UAMS Kids First, you have the opportunity to do more than provide therapy—you can help build brighter beginnings for children and families. You'll work alongside a collaborative team in an environment that values evidence-based practice, family involvement, professional growth, education, and community partnership. Your expertise can help children develop the skills they need to participate more fully in everyday life and reach their developmental potential. If you are passionate about pediatric therapy and ready to make a meaningful difference during the most important years of a child's development, we invite you to join UAMS Kids First.

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant studies.
  • Current professional license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).

Preferred

  • Two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is preferred.
  • Experience working with children from birth to age 5 is highly desirable.
  • Experience with pediatric gross motor delays or developmental disorders is a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver evidence-based, developmentally appropriate physical therapy to children from birth to age 5.
  • Provide individualized treatment based on each child's needs, monitor progress, and adjust interventions to support optimal outcomes.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and weekly billing in accordance with UAMS Kids First and Medicaid requirements.
  • Ensure documentation and billing accurately reflect services provided and individual treatment requirements.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Partner with families as active members of the treatment team and promote Family-Centered Care.
  • Educate and empower families to support their child's development at home and in the community.
  • Contribute to the academic mission through student training, professional education, and community outreach.
  • Participate in research, program initiatives, and other activities that advance pediatric care.
  • Stay current in pediatric physical therapy, gross motor development, and evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain professional licensure and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and clinical excellence.
